I get so many emails with the same questions, so I added a "FAQ's" tab at the top of my blog, and never got around to posting the questions.

Instead of going through tons of old emails, I thought maybe I could do a little Q & A session with you all and see if the same questions arise.

If not, I still think it would be fun to see what you guys want to know about me/my family/blogging/life in general.

I'm typically pretty candid when I write, but I ask that you be respectful when posting a question.

Don't be shy, however.

If you want to know more about my stance on any topic I've posted about in the past, I will do my best to answer the question honestly.

If you just want to get to know me better, feel free to ask anything silly.

I'll whip up a post next week with answers to whatever you come up with.

I just wanted to pop in with a couple announcements.

(I feel like a principal interrupting class on the PA system.)

I had always debated about having my blog on that site since my kiddos are growing up so quickly, but with this new pregnancy going smoothly, I decided to take a leap of faith and submit an application to join.

They responded within 8 hours, and I am currently #67 on their site.

I'm working out the shipping details right now, and will have a few other book page items in the shop as well.
Each piece takes a bit of time to create, and no two items will be the same.

I'm pretty excited about it!

Last, I stopped doing my "un-fashion" posts because I was feeling guilty posting photos of myself with a baby bump when I knew so many readers here struggle with loss/infertility. I plan to start those posts up again, so this is your warning if pregnany bellies make you sensitive.

I know I was there once, and I don't want any of my readers feeling blue seeing my photos.

However, I promise to never show you my stomach without a shirt.

No pregnancy progress photos here, kay?

My sis-in-law Jenn. She got me started on blogging. She started one as a way for all of the family to stay connected with her babies. I started this blog to document my life with Micah and all of our adventures together for all of our family and friends out of state and who we didn't see often enough.Once the babies came along it became more of mommy blog. It is slowly transforming into something more. Molly from the story of us has really been my biggest mentor. Through her design and creativity she has helped transform my blog ascetically to what it is and will become.Her love of Jesus, fam and great style has been inspiring to say the least. Then of course Kimmie. Dear sweet Kimmie. You have opened new doors and created opportunities for me and will forever be grateful for your heart and generosity. I seriously love this girl!

4. Where do you see your blog in five years?

If blogs are still in existence and not some old cyber fad, I envision it being a place of encouragement, A foundation of something bigger to come. I would love it to help promote my love affair with handmade crafts, but also seeing it warp into a ministry of some sort.

5. If you could only have five items in your purse for the rest of your life, what would they be?

I will be honest. I was stumped with this question. I was kind of agonizing over it.HAHA! Then my husband reminded me that it asked what 5 items in your PURSE not what 5 items you can have if stranded on an island with nothing else. So with this new insight, it was easy. 1.) iPhone 2.)lipgloss 3.)Hand Sani 4.)wild berry skittles or Red Vines 5.) Notepad for journaling or making my "lists".

6. What does your blog name mean?

How did you come up with it? "Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli" is my all time favorite quote from the classic film The Godfather. I interpret that as take what's important and move on. Such as in life. It also shows me that even in a tough mafia filled world that Pastries are King! I know what I'm about to say next may seem like an oxymoron when comparing God to a movie such as this. But it really is a daily reminder to see my blog title and know that we have a God ho is so incredibly good. He showers us with blessings beyond measure. Though there will be heartaches and trials I believe God wants us to enjoy the sweet side of life.

7. What is your day-to-day life like?

Right now in this season of baby mania it is pretty much the same schedule everyday. Waking up to take care of the littles while crafting or blogging during naps and bedtime really sums it up. I love it. Though hectic most days it is still pretty simple.

8. Do you have a favorite post that you have written? What's the link? Why is it your favorite?

THIS POST. This is my fave to date because I am so honest with not only my readers but myself. It is hopeful and reminds me of how much I have overcome this past year by the Grace of God.

9. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothing?

Vintage or consignment stores ANNNND Nordstrom Rack

10. Do you know of an online shop that you would recommend to everyone?

For clothes? I'm not a big shopper of clothes online but I'm constantly drooling over the selection at ModCloth. As far as just everyday items. AMAZON baby! I literally buy everything on here. From Record Vinyls to Diapers. Craft Supplies to books. I'm a Prime member which means free shipping on practically everything including the new mattress I just purchased. Booyah!

I first started blogging in 2007 when we found out I was prego with the lil lady to have a place for family and friends to follow our journey J Back then it was strictly a family blog and under DaveandCourtsCorner. I decided to launch LilNoodleBug Fall of 2011 when I went full force with my business!

3. Name your top three blog mentors. Why do they inspire you?

Dana – Dana Made It was the first blog I followed...years ago. I love her heart, her creative abilities, her love for what she does and the way she speaks so highly of her hubs and kids. Her blog was the reason I created Lil Noodle Bug. I was so inspired by her talent, I continue to be awe struck!

Casey Wiegand – her honesty, vulnerability and genuine personality is addictive. I can’t help but feel good after reading every post of hers.

You, Kimmie – I am so grateful to know you. You have inspired me to move forward, you have given me the push that I needed to pursue my dream and you have helped and guided me through it all. I honestly wouldn’t be here answering these questions if it weren’t for you....Thank you!

4. Where do you see your blog in five years?

Oh goodness – I will be almost 35 in 5 years and both my kiddos will be in school. In all honesty I just hope it brings me the same joy and happiness it provides me with now. It is my place where I write, where I vent, and where I share my joys.

5. If you could only have five items in your purse for the rest of your life, what would they be?

Oh my goodness, this is a good question!!!! Burts Bees Chapstick, My Erin Condren Life Planner (which contains pics of my hubs and kids), My license, My debit card and feminine products J

6. What does your blog name mean? How did you come up with it?

Lil Noodle Bug is actually my daughters nickname. I wanted something meaningful and since my kids inspire me the most I thought it was fitting to name my business after my leading lady.

7. What is your day-to-day life like?

Pure Craziness. I have actually written a post about it (BLOG POST HERE). I am a wife and a mother of 2 young kiddos that works full time and is pursuing my craft business. There is not enough time in the day!

8. Do you have a favorite post that you have written? What's the link? Why is it your favorite?

My favorite post is one I just posted. I was honest with myself in dealing with weight issues and I am actually doing something about it!!!! (BLOG POST HERE)

9. Where is your favorite place to shop for clothing?

This is a hard one for me – I love H&M, Kohl’s, Modcloth and Target...but if I had TONS of money to spend I would shop at Anthropologie and Nordstroms.

10. Do you know of an online shop that you would recommend to everyone?

I LOVE Splendor. (SHOP HERE) I have the HOPE bracelet and wear it almost everyday. I was able to get a couple of my close friends/co-workers a Christmas present and I bought everything from Splendor and they were all smitten!!! And to top it off, Laura is so Amazing and inspirational!

It's okay. Really.

Last night I got an email from a reader about my pregnancy.

I've actually gotten a LOT of emails lately.

I'm still not caught-up with December's emails.

It's overwhelming, really.

But last night's email subject was titled, "Bye Kimmie".

I opened it, intrigued by what may be written.

This lovely woman explained her personal struggles about infertility and miscarriage.

She told me that she found my blog a little over a year ago, and that she felt so comforted reading words from someone she could relate to.

She said she comments often.

She reads every new post.

She was loyal.

She was also telling me that all of that was about to change, but she didn't want to leave without saying goodbye.

I know that some of you are here solely because my stories of loss may have been relatable to you.

Or maybe my post about "never having another two year old" made you feel like you weren't alone.

And like this particular reader, I know that you may cringe every time I mention this new pregnancy.

We never thought we could have more children.

I don't expect you to be excited for me.

I am not asking for compassion, understanding, support, or anything else.

I have been there- I have burst into tears at the mere sight of a pregnant woman.

I have thought mean things when I saw a glowing expectant woman.

I understand.

If you can't handle the posts, the updates, the tweets- I understand.

If you have to stop reading, it's okay.

Really.

I have been there.

My heart was shattered.

I know the ache.

Truly.

Thank you to those of you who have asked to send gifts.

Thank you to those that have offered prayers and kindness.

Thank you to those that won't leave my side.

But if supporting me or reading about another pregnancy/baby is too difficult for you; all I ask is that you say goodbye before you leave.

I still know the feeling of feeling broken.

Things may be going smoothly for me right now, but trust me, if you email me about your struggles, I still feel your pain.

I still pray for your heart to heal.

I still wish you every happiness.

Today I have been blogging for exactly two years.

In that time, I have come across the most incredible people- women, families.

For two years I have written back and forth with women who have endured suffering and sadness.

My compassion for you will never change.

Two pink lines on a piece of plastic does not change my heart.

I am still me.

I guess I just want to say that I know it's hard to be happy for others when you're feeling blue.

I just want you to know that every shade of blue is welcome here.

But like I said, if you have to leave, please say goodbye.

I hate to see you go.

It's true.

We found out on December 2nd.

If you've read my story, or how my heart aches for more children, then you know how HUGE this news is.

If not, let me just tell you that this is HUGE.

I've already had three viability confirmation ultrasounds.

I'm only 7 weeks along (as of yesterday).

Things are scary.

Terrifying.

But things look good so far.

I was going to wait until my second trimester to announce it, but we've lost babies in the first trimester AND the second trimester before.

If I lose this baby right this second, I'll still want to cling to your words for support.

Going at this alone would be even scarier than it already is.

My due date is August 11th.

Doctors told me to expect a delivery towards the end of July since my babies have always been born a month early.

Our first Summer baby.

God willing.

2012 Ad Space Filling Up Fast!

During the past three months, I have offered you all the most affordable ad rates possible since I know the holidays make your advertising budget tight.

I'll be switching to regular priced sponsorships once 2011 comes to an end.

Thankfully, I've already received over a dozen emails from current sponsors requesting to sponsor Sugar and Dots in 2012.

Cold Hands Warm Hearts Swap

This was my first year joining Ilene and Sandy's Cold Hands Warm Hearts Swap.

We were asked to swap gloves with another person that had joined the fun.

When I got the email that told me who my partner was, I was thinking, "Hmm...I know I've heard of that shop before..." and didn't think much else.

When my partner Leonora emailed me immediately after that, I was smitten.

She is the New York version of myself; only she's super funny, she has mad graphic artist skills, and she's five months younger.

The girl is rad.

I don't say that very often.

I know for a fact that my CHWH swag from Leonora is hands-down the best that was mailed out.

She rocked it!

I know, right?!

I sent her gloves.

She sent me Christmas morning.

Being with my husband makes me insanely happy.

When he's at work, I play the role of the annoying housewife who calls him constantly and begs for him to come home.

When he works from home, I persuade him to curl up on the couch with me and watch all of our favorite shows.

At dinner, I sit directly beside him and talk his ear off about nothing exciting.

Really, I don't know how he handles my co-dependant problem.

;)

As a child, I thought I would grow up and fall in love, and everything would happen so easily.

As an adult, I learned that nothing in my life ever comes easily (well...heartache and stress, maybe...) but that I have everything I could have ever wanted.

My heart is so full.

And it's all because of this man that I married.

Dont't you just love it when I blog about nothing that pertains to you at all?

I want to look back on this time and know that my heart was bursting at the seams.

Welcome to the zoo. (And a winner.)

I love animals.

I love rescuing animals.

From the time my husband and I were dating (2003) until now, we have had over seventy pets.

Twelve of those were fish.

We have rescued and re-homed so many wonderful animals.

Currently, our zoo is the smallest it's ever been.

It's also the most cohesive and happy it's ever been.

Today I played with my new toy.

(My Canon EOS 60D. We may have to starve for the next few weeks since we purchased it, but my photog skills are improving. Just kidding. Kind of.)

Since I never tell you my family's names, I think I'm finally ready to introduce you to a few family members:

This is Bella.

I found her in a Jack in the Box parking lot when The Girl was 17 months old (2005).

Bella was about 4 weeks old, and sounded like a crying baby in the bushes.

I was so relieved to find her.

Hubby wasn't as happy as I was... he wasn't a fan of cats back then.

She is the only pet that has lived in all five houses that we've lived in.

This is Minnie.

Hubby's aunt found her at a park when she was about 6 months old.

We kept her and put signs up everywhere; looking for her owners.

After about a week, I was done with puppy potty training and would get furious when Minnie would run out the front door and down the street constantly.

I had Hubby drive her back to his aunt across town.

She wasn't home.

Minnie is now almost 6 years old, and my very best friend.

Meet Karlo.

When The Boy was just over a year old (2008), I was searching Craigslist for chihuahuas.

Instead, I came across a listing for German Shepherds.

Totally the same breed, right?

I know.

Craziness.

He completes our family in the most loyal, loving way.

This is Easter.

She was being sold in an alley in Los Angeles when she was 3 weeks old.

I spent the $20 to buy her just so I could attempt to save at least one of those poor baby bunnies.

I bottle fed her around the clock for weeks.

She is now just over 8 months old.

I had no idea that rabbits were cuddly.

She's camera shy, but insanely affectionate.

This is a Russian Tortoise.

She is approximately five years old and has no name.

A few months ago, I heard a car slam on their breaks in front of my house.

A minute later, a man rang my doorbell and said, "I almost ran over your turtle!"

I said, "Oh, um, I don't have a turtle."

He said, "TAKE the turtle."

He was elderly and I could tell that a turtle was the last thing he wanted to deal with.

I brought the turtle inside and fed him an entire head of lettuce, which he ate in about thirty seconds flat.

We took her to a vet after no one responded to the "Found" signs we put up; and we found out her species, age, and gender.

We like her.

Maybe one day I'll introduce you to the rest of my family.

It's amazing how terrifying some things are for me when it comes to blogging.

What I Wore- Las Vegas Edition

Earlier this week, we celebrated my birthday in Vegas.

We have tons of pictures from our trip, but to spare anyone any embarrassment, I'm going to crop these to show off what I wore during my trip.

Straight off of the plane and up in our room.

Our flight was delayed. Twice.

I may be a homebody, but if I had it my way, I would be bustin' a move on the dancefloor at least once a week.

And in the beginning of the night, I wore this outfit with black tights to avoid the Pretty Woman look, but my friend's tights ripped, so we both ditched them and let loose.

The next day I wore flats and jeans.

This past week has been a whirlwind, but I am happy we got a chance to get away for a bit.

Getting back into a routine is going to be a major bummer.

Black Friday Re-Cap

Did any of you venture out last night or this morning for Black Friday?

I did.

And let me just say, next year, I will happily enjoy my food coma on my couch watching old episodes of Friends.

This was not my first Black Friday event.

I love the deals.

This year we didn't get any big-ticket items.

Lots of toys.

We saved a ton, but it didn't come easily.

So this year, Black Friday started on Thursday at 10:00 PM.

I had Hubby take me to Walmart right at 10:00, and we waited outside for about thirty minutes just to enter the store.

We entered and immediately separated in hopes of finding a cart somewhere inside the store.

I found one first.

And the hunt began.

I walked aisles, getting more and more frustrated by the minute.

After I filled my cart with too many toys to count, I walked past a line that was formed throughout the entire length of the store.

I finally made it to the end of the line.

There were hundreds of people ahead of me, and I was in the front of the store- still needing to make it to the back of the store, loop around, and eventually make it all the way to the front of the store again.

Hubby made my time more enjoyable by handing me a stack of magazines.

I probably had as many magazines as I did items in my cart.

After waiting exactly four hours in line, I saw a Walmart employee walking towards me.

She asked me how long I have been waiting, and if I would like to enter a different checkout line.

"A different checkout line? What do you mean? I've been in line for four hours now!"

"We feel badly for our customers, and the line is dangerous for shoppers, so we are now separating this large line into twenty-two small lines."

Me:

"So I could have entered the store right now and I wouldn't have to wait in line?"

"Exactly!"

Awesome.

Immediately after that, the hundreds of people behind me were gone.

I turned around and saw nothing but sale signs.

Which explains why I haven't gotten off of my couch today.

I hope your Black Friday was much more successful and much less stressful than mine!

When I was in seventh grade, we spent P.E. in the multi-purpose room on a rainy day.

On this specific rainy day, I was passing notes back and forth to a friend of mine, instead of talking quietly or reading a book (my acceptable options).

She had a new boyfriend, and I told her in a note that I thought he was "so fine".

(Remember when "fine" meant "hot"?)

While writing the note, my P.E. teacher got on the microphone and said my first and last name.

She then asked if what I was writing was school work.

I told her it wasn't, but that I would put it away immediately.

(I had to yell this to speak over the talking kids and have my voice reach her on the stage.)

She told me to hand her whatever it was that I was working so hard on.

I got up, red-faced, and walked to her with the note that expressed my sadness about being single in seventh grade, and the list of "fine boys" at our school.

I was mortified to even hand it to her.

A few seconds later, she was reading my note out loud on the microphone to three P.E. classes.

After reading it, the room was roaring with laughter.

I didn't know what to do after that class.

Everyone came up to me asking if I was okay.

They made fun of the teacher.

They vowed to never write another note for the rest of their junior high career.

I spent the rest of the day holding back tears.

I was embarrassed.

I became the talk of the school for about a week after that.

I don't think that teacher had any idea that her little stunt affected me for the rest of my life.

I am now so cautious of my words.

How they will be used.

Wondering how long my words will matter.

I often use my blog as a way to express my struggles.

This is more of a therapy for myself than anything else.

While standing in line at JoAnn's the other day, I overheard two women talking about a blog.

It was a blog that I had never heard of.

"She posts about her triumphs in home-schooling, but her shop is filled with new products all.the.time! Who watches her kids?! Seriously, some of these bloggers need to get a grip. I should really write a post about that."

They continued to talk.

Why would anyone write a post about another person's lifestyle?

I wanted so badly to speak up, but I didn't.

I continued to stand in line, remembering when I stood in line for lunch in seventh grade and overheard my name for the first time.

I overheard some personal struggles that this blogger went through.

I related to them.

I had come-back after come-back for all of their comments, but I said nothing.

I then wondered how many times other women have stood in line to get fabric cut, and overheard my struggles that I have written about.

Probably never, but the thought crossed my mind.

Are you guilty of gossip?

Sure, everyone reads the headlines of the gossip magazines as they unload their grocery carts.

You may even purchase them and make witty comments to your husband about a celebrity.

Or maybe you gossip with other moms at preschool before you pick up your kids.

It is so easy to do.

I am guilty of it.

Some of it has been harmless.

Some of it has been ruthless.

None of it has been helpful.

Before you write a post or start a conversation, remember the word THINK.

You should always THINK before you speak.

You should to THINK before you post.

THINK before you tweet, update a status, text...

THINK.

T- Is it true?

H- Is it helpful?

I- Is it inspiring?

N- Is it necessary?

K- Is it kind?

Our children already live in a world where commercials about bullying are the norm.

Bloggers are being made fun of on anti-blogger websites.

Women are being ridiculed by complete strangers in the middle of craft stores.

Join me in taking a stand on gossip.

Even if you only focus on yourself- I hope that you will pay attention to how your words are being remembered.

And to my seventh grade P.E. teacher- you changed my life more than you know.

I hope that no other child felt the shame that you made me feel.

I am so thankful that your actions took place before everyone had cell phones.

And as an adult, I am thankful that you taught me a lesson as a child.

Because of you, I have never written on paper what I didn't want to whole world to know.

What I Wore- 28th Birthday Edition

Another week of unfashion.

This is the first time I allowed someone else to take my picture.

Hubby got me a Canon 60D for my birthday.

I have wanted a DSLR since my youngest brother got one when he was a teenager.

After having kids, I especially wanted one.

And after blogging...fughetaboutit.

I.Was.Sold.

Hubby surprised me.

Definitely the best gift I have ever gotten.

I let him play with it at the beach yesterday.

The perfect birthday in California.

(It rained all day Saturday, and Sunday was gorgeous. God is so good.)

Hello, lovelies.

Not long ago, I read about Project Hope on Casey's blog.

She introduced Laura on her blog, and I immediately felt compelled to contact her and offer any help possible.

Every spare moment I have is spent reaching out to people in hopes that they will passionate about this mission as well.

I have been praying about this, and feel in my heart of hearts that I am supposed to be contributing as much as possible to Project Hope.

Halloween Mantel (Craft Idea)

I'm not a huge fan of Halloween.

I know, I know.

Sorry.

I like looking at all of your decor- I do.

But for my own house, it's not my favorite.

Until I saw this idea in a magazine:

I turned the photo on my mantel into something a little more Halloween-esque.

The supplies:

There are actual costume templates you can use on a cutting machine (like a Cricut), but I simply drew everything on paint chip samples and taped the "costumes" onto the glass with tiny pieces of tape.

The perfect amount of Halloween for me.

Hello lovelies.

What I Whipped Up Wednesday is never scheduled- I always type it up and hit "publish".

This Tuesday I will be at my uncle's funeral and spending the afternoon with my family.

It will be the first time in years that my parents and my brothers will be in the same room together.

She enjoys all things crafty, wearing flip flops 365 days per year, talking about herself in third-person, reading, thrifting, and baking. Her love of vintage finds started as a child, and she loathes spending money on anything brand new.

Kimmie believes in God. She believes in kindness. She believes in second chances and happily ever after.

She is the PTA President at her daughter's school, and "room mom" for both kids' classrooms. She attends college full-time taking online courses; she may go to school forever just to continue learning. She works part-time for the family business, and spends her free time contributing to Project Hope.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Today, I will read through saved emails.

Saved comments.

Stories you have shared with me about your loss.

Your heartache.

Your angel babies.

Today, I pray for your hearts.

Today, I pray for my own.

I've shared my story about the worst day of my life.

I've shared the story of the second worst day of my life.

But today is the first time I share with you a photo of Riley.

I have actual photos- lots of them.

They may be too upsetting for some of you.

So here is the next best thing...

I was twenty-two years old.

This was my second-trimester belly.

My "linea nigra" was my biggest worry.

I was so naive.

This was the day before my world came crashing down.

I am teaming up with this gorgeous girl for this amazing cause.

Project Hope is what my heart breaks for.

I am so thankful to be a part of something so amazing.

You will be reading lots more about it soon.

Family Tree Print (Printable Craft!)

I like to think that my blog is not my own.

Without all of you, my blog serves no purpose.

I adore seeing your links during my What I Whipped Up Wednesday weekly linky party.

I love the support you give me when I am in need.

I love the kind words you express to me when I transform rooms like this:

Blogging is most definitely a group effort.

This next craft is part thank-you, part tutorial.

Over the past few years I have given family members family tree prints as gifts.

I would create the image in Photoshop, print, and frame.

Easy peasy.

This year, I wanted to get the kids involved.

Since I had created so many tree elements on the computer, I decided to create a tree base and use the kids' fingerprints for the leaves.

I love the outcome!

What you need:

Template provided below.

Ink pad(s). (I used two- one to simulate leaves, and one to simulate fruit.)

Ultra Fine Point Sharpie (or another fine-tipped pen).

Printer.

Frame (8x10).

I took actual photos of bark and filled in the tree outline, then created a sample template for all of you.

Simply click below to enlarge it, then right-click to save.

You have permission to use this template as often as you'd like, but you do not have permission to use it for a tutorial of your own or for profits for yourself of any kind.

I'm a jerk like that.

I wrote all of the names with a gray Sharpie because it was what I had on-hand, but I recommend using brown or black ink to fill in the names.

I've made these a bunch of different ways and always found that when you make your leaves larger and have enough room to fill in the entire leaf with the name, it looks best.

This project looks prettiest when made by an adult, but typically gets the most "oohs and ahhhs" when made by children.

I never blog on Sundays.

I never blog on Sundays because this is the one day when I realize everything I have to accomplish before a new week.
Homework is due.
Laundry needs to get completed.
Meals need to be planned.
The upcoming week gets fine-tuned on the calendar.

Sundays are when I stress the most.

And when the entire day is spent with people I love.

But today is different.

Today, I will write an open letter to my children.

Because you never know when you'll get the chance to say what you want to.

My Uncle Chris just passed away.

He was 42.

My dad sent me a text at 1:00 AM on Saturday and said we needed to talk.

My dad doesn't text often.

My dad doesn't stay awake past 9:00 PM on any given day.

He is only 48 years old, and his routine is set in stone.

It makes me giggle since he is so young.

When his routine changes, I know that something bad has happened.
I missed his text at 1:00 AM.

On Saturday morning I called him and texted him and he eventually called me back.

He told me that his baby brother is gone.

I don't even know what to say.
My Uncle Chris had the most infectious laugh and smile.
He came to every family event- every trip to Chuck E. Cheese's with my kids.
He gave the best gifts at Christmas.

Chris has a twin brother.

All I can think about is how my other uncle is aching right now.

And then I realized that the last thing Chris and I talked about was when we'd have a BBQ.

Life always got in the way of making plans.

And now it's too late.

And I got to thinking, we don't get to choose when we go.

And I would hate to have all of these plans with my kids fall through.

So Chicken Noodle and Bubby-Loo, this is to you:

Chicken Noodle,

Don't rush.

I promise you will grow up when it's time.

Makeup is only an option in high school.

Minimal.

And that's the only minimal thing I will allow.

Your clothes will be the first impression you give to the world.

Never focus on brand names.

They seem important, but I promise that one day you'll realize they mean nothing.

Please don't dye your hair.

Ever.

Please don't start dating until you're thirty.

Okay, maybe twenty-five.

I am not kidding.

And when the time is right, and Daddy approves of the love of your life, have the biggest wedding you can.

I have been saving for it since the day I married Daddy.

We didn't have a wedding.

And by eloping, we knew we could give you a special day that you deserve.

Take lots of pictures.

Let your brother be your friend.

He might annoy you, but sharing memories about me will be a bond that no one else can have with you.

Put school first.

You are so bright.

It's amazing to see what you're capable of.

I wish I had the study skills that you do.

Never stop singing in the shower.

Never lose your self-confidence.
Looking in the mirror and saying, "I feel beautiful" is okay to do for the rest of your life.
When you say it out loud, it makes me happy.
Follow your heart.
Ask questions.
Stick up for what you believe in, even when it doesn't seem "cool".
Please give your daughter the middle name Grace...you know why.
If I go early, please don't be mean to Daddy's new wife.
I promise you he would only marry someone that would love you.
Know that my entire life was filled with happiness because of YOU.

Bubby-Loo,
I never thought I would be a mother to two children.
I prayed for you for so long.
You complete our family and make us whole.
Please be friends with your sister.
Look out for her.
Hang out with Daddy and let him do "guy stuff" with you.
If you don't want to play sports, you don't have to.
If you do want to play sports, Daddy will be at every practice and every game possible.
Focus on school.
You are so curious about how things work- pursuit that passion.
Don't be reckless with girls' hearts, and don't be a copycat of the "in" crowd.
Continue to dance when you're happy.
Never lose your love of books.
Please follow in Daddy's footsteps and help him with the family business.
You don't have to work there if that's not your passion, but please help Daddy when work gets to be overwhelming.
Be the most respectful person you know of.
Please give your son the middle name Michael...you know why.
Please give your wife the wedding she deserves.
Let her father walk her down the aisle.
Be kind to her family.
Know that you filled the cracks in my heart and that my life was happy because of YOU.

I don't know how to... (Longest post ever.)

I have no problem facing change.

I welcome it.

I embrace it.

If it ever comes at a time when I am not ready for it, I usually stress a little, but never to the point where it overwhelms me.

Change takes place a lot here on my blog.

The name (Fancy Kimmie to Live Fancy to Sugar and Dots), the look, the font size, the font color, the entire layout...it has all changed.

There are two things that haven't; my writing style (single sentence line breaks/sentence fragments/sarcasm), and being transparent.

I have never ever kept this blog as a happy zone.

I wish I was that blog.

I wish so much that my blog name was the answer when people asked, "What blog do you LOVE reading?"

But I accept that it can't be that way.

Writing about my miscarriages, my daughter's time as a burn victim, my husband's life-threatening injury, and every struggle in-between has brought me an audience that I was in need of.

I needed people to relate.

To join me in my cry for help.

To pray over me and send me words of encouragement.

I need this blog for all that it brings me.

It's true.

Unfortunately, it is also so very selfish.

This is not my blog.

That's all I kept hearing during Blog Sugar yesterday.

The words were never said, but the message was clear.

Everyone walked away from their panels with their own interpretations.

My panels were all very different, yet the message was the same for me.

Your blog is not for yourself.

Without you, my blog is nothing.

Without your kindness to subscribe to my words-

Without your sweet comments-

Without your encouragement, your suggestions, your ideas-

Without your participation during my little linky party-

Without all that you do, this blog would be nothing.

Nothing.

My words would mean nothing if you didn't choose to read them and connect with their meaning.

Think about it.

Blogging is such a scary thing.

It can make you so vulnerable.

I have always tackled my vulnerability.

In doing so, I have made friends that I would have never made otherwise.

My whole life has been affected by blogging.

My life.

My home is full of projects that are created from reading your ideas.

My family eats meals from the recipes that you share.

My children wear clothes that have been sewn from tutorials that you have posted.

I have been on date nights with my husband at places that you recommend.

I spend my evenings talking/texting/tweeting/emailing with women that bring me immense joy.

All of them being women I would have never met without my blog.

What an amazing thing that is.

My life is how it is because of you.

Arriving to Blog Sugar yesterday, I saw two women walking towards the conference who greeted me with a smile.

They introduced themselves as Brittany and Amy.

I said, "Hi. I'm Kimmie."

Amy said, "Kimmie from Sugar and Dots?"

At that moment, I felt like I had made it.

I clapped.

I smiled.

I felt so...so...alive.

I write.

I assume people read the words.

I never thought I would say my name and have someone automatically know where I write.

Or continue to tell someone else in line for a blog conference that I refer to my children as "The Boy" and "The Girl".

Amy knew my blog.

She told me she linked up to What I Whipped Up Wednesdays and loved the links.

She validated me without knowing.

It was the best feeling in the world.

I got to sit and chat with Erika, Alissa, Carrie, Jenelle, Jacqui, Julie, Amity, and Meagan.

I begged Alissa, Jacqui, and Meagan to let me sit at their table.

The other ladies were so very welcoming and so great to meet.

(My number was off by one-digit for an amazing giveaway. Amy won it. (Remember we walked in together.) I was thrilled for her. She was so kind and so deserving.)

It was a lovely evening with the socializing and the sugar.

My best friend couldn't attend, so I made a Flat Stanley-esque project and brought her with me.

Here we are with Jacqui and Casey.

And then I attended my panels.

Maggie was adorable.

She answered my question with such grace and courtesy.

To be able to ask her face to face, "How did you create a name for yourself?" and have her respond after pausing to answer with intent and honesty, it was lovely.

Then Julie spoke.

If you read her blog, you have to know that her words online are just as beautiful in-person.

I actually cried while listening to her.

And at the end, I got to tell her that I am here because of her.

She commented on a photographer's blog and said, "Start a blog cute family!"

And I did.

I didn't know what I was doing, but I thought, "If Julie said to start a blog, I will do it."

I think she was my 10th follower.

If I really sit and think about it, I am where I am because of Julie.

I got to tell her that.

In front of a large group of women.

With a shaky voice.

And tears in my eyes.

I got to thank her for her comment that changed my life.

It meant the world to me.

Jeannett's message was the one that connected with me the most.

I took notes like I was about to be given an exam on her speech.

I listened with my entire being.

I opened my heart and tried to feel the words that she was passionately expressing.

My favorite part of her time was her powerful message.

"You are not one-dimensional; neither is your blog."

"What does your heart break for?"

"It wasn't that long ago that women had no voice."

"There are over 153 million blogs in the world. Your readers choose to read YOURS. Don't waste the resource- you have a captive audience! Use your blog for good."

"If you can't read my blog because I mention a scripture, then find another blog."

What a powerful message that is.

Which brings me to my confession...

I don't know how to be religious.

Riiiiiight.

I know that looks like the most absurd sentence in the world.

I know.

I do.

But here's the thing...

I wasn't raised with any kind of religious background.

I think we went to church on Christmas every year, but to be honest, I don't think that's true.

Nor do I know if that was the correct holiday.

I really don't remember it enough to know any details at all.

When I was 18, I decided to find a church and attend.

I went often.

Four days a week.

I tried to soak up as much information as I could.

I did this for about 6 months.

It was very fast-paced and confusing.

The "college group" I was in spent a lot of time saying memorized scriptures in unison.

I sat alone, flipping through my Bible trying desperately look like I knew what I was looking for.

I even got reading glasses in hopes that I could say I forgot them occassionally when I was really lost.

I would simply hold my closed Bible and mouth, "I forgot my glasses."

(Sorry for that $200.00 eye doctor bill, Mom. I still feel guilty about that. Every.Single.Day.)

I eventually gave up on trying to understand where I fit in.

I just assumed that I didn't have whatever it was that religious people had.

Knowledge?

Experience?

A special faith that I couldn't grasp?

I didn't know what it was.

I stopped going to church.

I eventually became a pregnant 19-year-old.

I was certain that I shouldn't even attempt to seek the God that I so desperately wanted to connect with.

I told people I was "spiritual but not religious".

And here I am 9 years after my first visit to a church on my own.

After my amazing time at a faith-based blog conference.

I always want to post about it.

Not necessarily all of the details I just gave you...

But there are times when I feel the need to type things that I don't know how to say.

I want to say, "Today I felt so blessed. God is amazing."

And then I think, "Oh, wait. These women are here for crafts and inspiration. Not to read about the day that Kimmie felt like God was hearing all of her prayers."

Or I'll think, "How great for this blogger who just quoted a scripture and had a zillion comments about how that scripture changed people's perspective- their day- their mood- their life."

But I don't know where to begin.

I pray all.the.time.

Constantly.

I believe.

My faith is imbedded deep into my soul and with every ounce of my being.

But mentioning any of that to you never seemed fitting.

And then I read Casey's post.

I've said it before.

I won't apologize for the words I've written.

This blog is me.

It is real.

It is honest.

I can't be sorry if I am not who you want me to be.

But I can stop hiding.

I don't need to turn this space into a Sunday service, but I had never mentioned it before and felt the timing to be perfect...

I have never memorized His word.

But I believe.

And I don't want to leave this Earth with a blog that never revealed that.
